Infused Native

Manipur is a land of rich crafts and deeply entrenched tradition of music, dance, and a heightened sense of aesthetic awareness that touches every sphere of a Manipuri's life. The pottery, the reed and bamboo crafts, the jewelry all have the power to mesmerize.

Meeting Longrei was an affirmation to the unique artisan sensibilities that he brings to his accessories that he crafts out of materials native to him and to Manipur.
Longrei
Longrei shows his preference for black by dressing on a monochromatic color scheme with his short sleeve henleys, a pair of leather+knit paneled joggers and heavy duty Doc Martin ankle length boots. It absolutely works as his accessories shine through!
Longrei
His unique undercut with a long locks at the back hairstyle is held by this amazing pair of hair-pins fashioned with leather, beads and feathers. It brings such unique tribal infused aesthetics to these relevant and modern pieces. We love the dream-catcher neck piece that adorns his neck!
Longrei
His mirrored aviators, bracelets, studded biking glove and his looped in accessories add a rawness to this amazingly crafted and thought about masculine BIKER look. Longrei shows a perfect way to all the men who love accessories, but are afraid. What we love the most of infusion of the native with the modern.

The Underground Movement is here

How refreshing is it to see guys having fun with proportions! I mean we see girls doing it all the time with various silhouettes, but boys seem to be stuck in the top+bottom proportions with a few variants in the fits going from loose to skinny and back.

Five days Five Looks One Pal - Parfum Dellic Day 1

Monday, 30 June 2014

Introducing Parfum Dellic for my five days five looks one pal series. Parfum was fun shoot with; effervescent, energetic and enthusiastic.

Ready to walk in style for a meeting at work Parfum pairs his black check tee with green cast denims; he brings in sophistication and formal tone with a textured custom jacket. A pair of brogues to match the denims; leather bag and tousled hair to finish his Savvy sartorial work wear.

Work wear recently has started being more about being a personal style statement rather than a crisp suit and tie affair and we are digging Parfum's ultimate style statement.

Parfum Dellic is fashion designer by profession; the name is inspired by his love for perfumes.

Upcoming Trends for Men

Thursday, 30 January 2014

As we look forward to the New Year, new choices, newer options it’s time to update our wardrobes and follow on with the latest trends.

Year 2014 looks promising for fashionable men ever more with newer fashion weeks dedicated only to menswear have emerged. At A Quaint Perspective, we observe that men are sporting bolder colors and embracing newer silhouettes. Fashion is fun again. Here’s lowdown on the upcoming trends for coming year.

Key Trends

Casual meets Formal

Casual meets formal look, note the denim jacket with kerchief in pocket detail

Pairing a formal jacket with casual trousers is a trend none of you must miss out on. Borrowing from the formals dressing will be major trend in the coming seasons for men. Add a bow-tie to a casual shirt, a formal jacket to a pair of denims. You can wear a colorful printed pocket square with a formal suit and team it up with a tee. This is a playful trend where one can choose to be as experimental or as conservative one wishes to.

Do’s

Make sure the jacket is a clean classic one in a darker tone. Select a classic two button with a single vent in back and medium width lapels.

Do try and mix various textures in the same color tones.

You really need to be careful of the vibrancy or intensity of the colors you are matching.

Don’ts

Do not go for overtly stylized jackets.

Avoid wearing too many colors at once.

Social settings allow you to branch out and be a little more adventurous while in the workplace and functions surrounding them, a sharper and professional look is recommended.

Don’t wear a striped shirt with a striped pocket square or bow tie.

Denims are back

The most universally accepted style staples denims are back.

After the riot of colors in the last few seasons in the bottom wear the denims make a comeback. The best part is that they suit all body types ages and is one of

Fits

Trousers/Denims get more fitted bordering on the skinny fit. Teaming up with a shirt untucked is the look to sport for a younger look. The one big advantage of the trend is that it makes you look slimmer and adds to your height.

Do’s
Try printed chinos/denims, try colors, try different washes, just ensure it complements you.

Roll up the hem of the trousers/denims up to the ankles for a more edgy look.

Wear them with formal shoes with the no socks look, the key is to get yourself foot-lets, which are socks that are not visible outside your shoes.

Don’t’s

If you are top heavy avoid too skinny options, instead choose slim pants.

Don’t tuck in your tees.

The shirt/tee should ideally end midway of your fly.

Patterns and Prints

the Insurgence or prints for men, from ditsy to geometric to floral to quirky

Another of my favorite trend is the insurgence or prints for men, from ditsy to geometric to floral to quirky. It could be a shirt, a pair of chinos, T-shirt or even sock prints are everywhere. Adding a print or pattern to your wardrobe is fun and can be as loud or subtle as you would want it to be.

Have fun with prints but mixing more than two would be a risk.

Colours

Moving away from the bright colours, 2014 brings in powdered shades of our staples with Indigo as the prime colour to focus on.

Accessories

At A Quaint Perspective, we think Hats could be the new addition to your wardrobe to lift up your look. Choose from the Trilby or the Bowler currently sported by Amir Khan for Dhoom3.

When it comes to accessories in order to keep it stylish one needs to be careful as not to overdo or over complicate. Bring out your individuality by wearing what appeals to you and keep it simple. Although accessories are considered to be generic, the appeal lies in the way you choose your clothes, accessories and put them together.

Happy 2014!

Street Style Diaries Mumbai

Monday, 11 November 2013

There is something about the preppy look that has an air of smugness that comes from a privileged life of a legacy kid, an Ivy league education, at the same time is representative of a refined taste, casual, sporty and stylish way of life.

Popularised by designers such as Ralph Lauren in both his namesake label and Polo by Ralph Lauren and by Michael Bastian for GANT and brands like Abercrombie & Fitch, this heritage American/English preppy look is revised and updated with regularity for the modern man.

The white oxford shirt is paired with a sporty white and blue plaids for a casual pair of flat front trousers. The  perfectly matched aged brown leather belt, watch strap and shoes are accessories add the much required vintage element. The spectacles complete the updated classic look.

How to wear/add colour to your outfit

Looking to add some fun in your wardrobe? Colourful patterned socks add just the right amount of fun in  an outfit without being too away from your comfort zone.
Roll up when wearing them with your denims to add to the casual look.
After all style is in the small details.
Happy weekend.

How to dress for an Interview - Men

Monday, 12 August 2013

Tipe for men

Men’s Interview attire:

1. Shirt- A solid colour could be patterned or textured, or a simple stripe would be good too (not too colourful). Collared button up shirt with a white undershirt underneath.

2.Pants dark or khaki.

3.Portfolio, pen and extra copies of your resume.

4.A classic watch

5.Simple Belt

6.Basic pair of socks.Classy and professional is always the way to go.

7.Leather; polished shoes.

8.Two-piece, single-breasted, dark suit(solid color or conservative pinstripes). Opt for suit if you are appearing for senior management corporate interview.

9.Conservative tie (no bowties, bright colors or bold patterns). Opt for a tie only if you are wearing a suit, else only tie might make you look like salesman.

10.Conservative, short haircut. Well groomed hair. Avoid strong cologne.
Entry Level/Mid Level
Paired with dark pants in a neutral tone, a belt, and dress shoes, a solid colour shirt looks business casual—perfect for an entry level job interview. Always remember that if you can see the top of the pants, a belt is a must.
Corporate/ Senior Management
A dark suit is completely appropriate to wear with a tie, provided the tie is not black. A grey striped tie works well with an all black look for a corporate management level job interview.
Creative
For a creative position, ditch the tie, and wear a cool tweed blazer and coordinating belt and shoes. You'll stand out and look sharp, while expressing your creative side.

Trend Alert - Chambray Shirt

Mens styling

A Chambray shirt is one my favourite key fashion piece in menswear. Its easy to style and maintain (no ironing required). Chambray has evolved from denim, is lighter and softer.
A chambray shirt can be paired with almost anything from a pair of chinos, to colored pants to denims.

Chambray shirts are available with a lot of Denim Brands. Do try them on your next visit.

Have a great week ahead.
