Street Style Diaries Mumbai - Bow tie Affair

Some people inspire me. People who are well put together exude this charm, elegance and confidence that draws me towards them. I love observing these inherently stylish people through my lens. I will share these with you on this platform.

Mumbai is buzzing again with fashionable n stylish people coming together for the winter 13 edition of LIFW at Grand Hyatt. I was drawn to it, and inspired I was!

AT the venue

What follows is a series of people whose personalities shine through, people who inspire! I want to thank everyone who graciously posed for me... Enjoy!

How to DIY- Add the bling Women.

Friday 23 August 2013

I bought these awesome pair of gold heels a couple of years back and wore them everywhere till the top layer started coming off.
I was not ready to part with them yet since they were still in pretty good shape.
So here's what I did.
Bought spikes, roll of stitched in sequins and fevibond. All I needed the were a pair of scissors.

Scissors, Adhesive and Sequin Strip

I tried variations first and then finally measured the distance. Cutting up the strips and gluing the spikes was the easy and fun part.

A closeup

Love the black tones

And here they are all shiny and new. Ready to go out?;-))

Another pair that needed a bit love and care.

How to do a brilliant braid in under 10 Minutes!

How to do a brilliant braid in under 10 minutes.

Pull your hair together to one side. Separate the hair above your hands and put your fore finger and thumb through the hole.

DSC_0032DSC_0033
Grab the bottom of your hair and pull through the hole. You will repeat this step over and over until you reach the bottom of your hair.

To make sure you don't have one big hole down the middle of your "braid", put your fingers through one side of the last twist. It's kind of hard to explain but just make sure you don't repeat the step right through the middle each time.

Finish with a clear elastic and you are done! THE. FASTEST. "BRAID". EVER. I cannot wait to wear this in my hair all day every day

Tip- You should have semi-dirty hair, or product to texturize your hair.

How to wear/add colour to your outfit

Looking to add some fun in your wardrobe? Colourful patterned socks add just the right amount of fun in  an outfit without being too away from your comfort zone.
Roll up when wearing them with your denims to add to the casual look.
After all style is in the small details.

How to dress for Work/Office

Wednesday 14 August 2013

The do's and dont's

What to wear to work! by divyatak featuring v neck tops

Ladies its time we dressed for the part too at work. Wearing frumpy, ill fitting clothes serves no purpose.
Do go through the above picture; avoid bold patterns, casual daywear at work, instead opt for simpler chic clothes that represents the strength and power that you are.

How to dress for an Interview - Men

Monday 12 August 2013

Tipe for men

Men’s Interview attire:

1. Shirt- A solid colour could be patterned or textured, or a simple stripe would be good too (not too colourful). Collared button up shirt with a white undershirt underneath.

2.Pants dark or khaki.

3.Portfolio, pen and extra copies of your resume.

4.A classic watch

5.Simple Belt

6.Basic pair of socks.Classy and professional is always the way to go.

7.Leather; polished shoes.

8.Two-piece, single-breasted, dark suit(solid color or conservative pinstripes). Opt for suit if you are appearing for senior management corporate interview.

9.Conservative tie (no bowties, bright colors or bold patterns). Opt for a tie only if you are wearing a suit, else only tie might make you look like salesman.

10.Conservative, short haircut. Well groomed hair. Avoid strong cologne.
Entry Level/Mid Level
Paired with dark pants in a neutral tone, a belt, and dress shoes, a solid colour shirt looks business casual—perfect for an entry level job interview. Always remember that if you can see the top of the pants, a belt is a must.
Corporate/ Senior Management
A dark suit is completely appropriate to wear with a tie, provided the tie is not black. A grey striped tie works well with an all black look for a corporate management level job interview.
Creative
For a creative position, ditch the tie, and wear a cool tweed blazer and coordinating belt and shoes. You'll stand out and look sharp, while expressing your creative side.

Tips for Women

What to wear to interview! by divyatak featuring clip-on earrings
  1. Keep it classic with the clothes- Opt for a classic, solid colored, skirt and/or pants suit in a neutral color like black, grey, or navy blue. Be sure to stay away from suits that are too short (more than a thumbs length above the knee), too tight (you can see your pantyline), or too revealing in general (cleavage isn't a good thing in this case). A blouse with small print/ solid (not too bright) color with small details so that the attention is on you.
  2. Carry simple bag- To safely store extra copies of your resume or presentation without worrying about them being bent or ruined in transit. Also keep your electronic devices to minimum (unless you're interviewing for a tech-related job).
  3. Always wear comfortable shoes.
  4. Carry a nice diary and pen.
  5. Go simple with the makeup and accessories.
  6. Last but certainly not least confidence. By following these simple rules, you can ensure that you’ll appear intelligent, classy, and professional on the day of your interview. Better yet, you'll look so organized and polished, your interviewer will know you're prepared to start your new position at a moment’s notice.

On request- Happy Size Women

Monday 5 August 2013

This is a post dedicated to Sanu and all my Plus oops Happy size friends. I must admit it was not easy to put this post together. Fashion is not kind to plus size women but you crack the code with a few tricks.

1.Tops suggestion- Ideally the tops should fit you well. The gather under the bust shows off the narrow part of your body hence is flattering. Avoid very fancy silhouettes/styles.

How to dress for plus size - women

2. Dresses Suggestions- The dresses below are simple and chic. I love the detailing around neck. Flowing sleeves are a great idea too. The fabrics should be soft and fluid.

Suggestions

3. Outfit Suggestions- Adding a well fitted blazer to our wardrobe will work wonders. Style the blazer in following ways. Knee length Kurta with embroidered yoke and chudidaar is a great outfit to flaunt. Try out a curved hem for the top, it will definitely take away attention from your hip. Adding a belt at the waist would help you look like you shed kilos. Printed fitted bottoms are a rage right now that you must try.

Happy Size Women

I hope these tips help you narrow down your options. Pun intended.
I also stumbled upon this amazing blog by a fabulous plus size girl called "Girl with Curves". http://girlwithcurves.com.

Have a great week ahead.
