Creating an enchanting collection for cocktails, wedding and festive events, Arpita Mehta’s “The Golden Hour” was a sensuous offering at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015.

When the events are glamorous, the collection has to match their splendour, so Arpita selected raw silk, tabi silk and chiffon in dramatic hues of gold, Sindoor, emerald and finally stunning black. The embellishments were elaborate and lavish as intricate mirrorwork and cut Dana embroidery along with salli fringes and innovative suede appliqués added to the highlights of the ensembles.

To further accentuate the glitz and glamour of the creations, Arpita brought in dull gold work. The sexy silhouettes, the fluid flared creations and the dramatic styling heightened the fashion quotient.

It was a veritable feast for the eyes as the first model in a stunning gold gown glided on the ramp. Soon there was a profusion of glamorous Red Carpet entries like the off-shoulder choli with an emerald green raw silk dazzling Lehenga, brown layered kurta with gold bolero and tiered Sharara. The Grecian gown was over sleek pants, while the printed draped pant, cowl salwars with a tiny choli with long trail and the black deep ‘V’ neckline kurta were eye catchers.

Ending the show was ravishing Bollywood beauty Malaika Arora Khan, who sashayed down the ramp in an arresting gold off-shoulder choli with a panelled net trail and fitted slit long embroidered skirt

AARTIVIJAY GUPTA STUNNED AGAIN WITH A BRILLIANTLY IDEATED COLLECTION AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2015.

Mumbai, 30 August 2015: Virtuoso designer Aartivijay Gupta brought a never seen before version of the traditional ‘Mandi’ with a high fashion twist at the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015.

Roused by one of the most commonly visited market places in the country, Aarti found genius in the form of verdure. The organic produce was photographed with finesse and turned into photo prints as well as painted in-house and translated onto garments. The feature that set off the whole collection was the revival of Indian farmer’s Gamcha checks that were paired together with the prints to create the exuberant compilation that was showcased on the ramp.

Textiles used, headlined hand-woven Jamdani, worsted wools, pashminas and mulmul that had been used as the canvas fabric for the art work giving the line a polished look. The colours that virtually appeased and gave the collection it’s chic look, consisted of muted dark biscuit browns, oxblood red, ochre, leaf green and beige. Silhouettes were anti-fitted and aimed at fitting a wide variety of clients. It subsisted of adjustable waist trench coats, big pleated skirts, adjustable wrap around skirts, buttoned work-wear shirts and farm aprons.

The two male models wore suits, monochromatically checked with photo prints of gourds and other vegetables spread out on the garments. Silhouettes that stood out from the women’s wear were the structured coat blouse paired with a belted sari and a wide legged pair of pants with pegs worn with a crop top and a trench coat.    

The designer Aartivijay Gupta demonstrated the very innovative collection ‘Mandi’, while managing to stay true to her distinctly whimsical point of view and incredible craftsmanship.

PIYUSH DEDHIA’S ‘SOL’ PRESENTED A MODERN AGE YOUTHFUL COLLECTION AT JABONG STAGE DURING LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2015

Piyush Dedhia is an ace men’s wear designer and the proprietor of the brand ‘SOL’. He presented an all-round versatile collection, which complemented the rugged personality of Indian men, at Jabong Stage during Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015.

Piyush Dedhia’s idea of making commercially viable yet trendsetting outfits highly paid off as the models strutted down the catwalk in finely tailored attires. The silhouettes ranged from oxford shirts with complementary colour pocket details to military jackets and colour blocked shirts paired with striped blazers and ankle length trousers.

A semiformal twist was included by pairing a casual kurta shirt with a blazer and a trouser for a modern-gypsy look. It appeared to be the ideal option for the funky hunks, who willingly experiment with their formals by adding a dash of playfulness to it. The colour palette weighed more on the darker tones such as teal, smoky grey, charcoal black, cobalt blue and a hint of tangerine and white to balance the equation. High quality suitings fabrics were used to create an all seasonal look-book for the working Indian men.

Reliance Trends Presented Tarun Tahiliani’s Exquisite “Easy Glamour” Prét-A-Porter Collection At Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015

Mumbai, 30 August, 2015: Tarun Tahiliani’s “Easy Glamour” collection was an eclectic line of the perfect prét-a-porter offering presented by Reliance Trends at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015.

The ramp was covered with graphics of “India Modern” visuals, which is the inspiration for most of Tarun’s designs. A full length mirror on stage and a rack with clothes; had as the backdrop, a very stylish video featuring model and Bollywood actress Lisa Haydon modelling Tarun’s collection.

International model Ujjwala Raut opened the show with a looped black will-powered midi, which was followed by a great mix of black creations with occasional bursts of colour. Printed dolman sleeve top, sleek sheath, poncho draped skirt and tabs held in place flowing printed scarves on tunics, while patterned gilets added style to shorts.

Going for easier silhouettes that featured a SoHo style, capes, capelets, jumpsuits and saris were the focal interest. Tarun’s women’s wear line had intriguing construction and exotic prints with a marked Russian influence of vibrant stripes and the tribal gypsy elements were contemporised with leheriya prints. The black and white striped cascading top and the asymmetric kurta with leggings, will-power corset dress, the black dhoti sari and choli brought a great fusion story. A maroon jumpsuit with embroidered printed belt and lungi dress were interesting diversions.

There was a profusion of carpet weaves and dramatic borders in shining shades of rust, olive and blue. The kaftans, tunics and shift dresses created easy, relaxed dressing options.

The jumpsuit-sari, an innovation by Tarun, had the pleats and draped dupatta, which was a great concept to step into and zip up. Peplum quilted gilets in winter shades of steel grey and black were ideal for cooler climes. Satin draped lungi cowl gowns, saris with velvet obe belts and printed Tees with satin dhotis, were great in construction and style. The kedia style blouses with skirts, woven embroidered pencil skirt, attached cape to blouses and the mini kaftan with a skirt added variety to the collection.

For formal wear Tarun picked a rich colour format of yellow, emerald, rust, teal and aubergine, which were just right for festivities. Velvet hemlines added sophistication to body-con saris; while 3D floral visions looked fabulous on kalidaar jackets. Mughal motifs were splashed lavishly on the creations, but black and gold had silk embroidery with golden flecks that moved to darker tones for ultimate drama.

Bringing a glamorous end to the show was the lovely Chitrangada Singh in a black draped gown and velvet cape splashed with gold embellishments.

Avant-garde couturier, Gaurav Gupta’s designs were a display of utmost craftsmanship using an artistic color palette that was minimal yet vibrant with moondown gray, albatross black, showtime ivory and reminiscent red. The collection was inspired by Lakmé’s Sculpt beauty statement. This season also saw the launch of the Lakmé Absolute Lip Pout range of matte and crème lipcolors which became part of Gaurav’s runway showcase.

Whether it was the silhouettes, colours, embroidery or fabrics, the “Sculpt” collection by Gaurav Gupta was an intense fashion experience that left a lasting, mesmerizing impression on the audience with the ultra-glamorous beauty of the ensembles. Each look on the runway was completed with Lakmé’s new range of Absolute Lip Pout lipsticks and accentuated through structured hairdos. Gupta’s models strutted down the runway with well-defined matte and crème lips in a stunning palette of rich plums, deep reds and feminine pinks. The playful sculpted looks were crafted by Lakmé makeup expert, Daniel Bauer.

AARTIVIJAY GUPTA WAS INSPIRED BY THE ART OF MOSAIC GLASS FOR HER COLLECTION AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK SUMMER/RESORT 2015

Mumbai, 22 March, 2015: She has always created amazing prints whether it was doodles, legendary Indian heroes or French couture images. For Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015 Aartivijay Gupta brought a colourful dimension to her creations with “My World of Glass” inspired by mosaic.

Her story of mosaic art revolved around nature with images of parrots, fish, birds, houses, trees and peacocks prancing on her basic silhouettes in all their vibrant finery. Bringing in a touch of Moroccan mosaic tea glasses with teal and gold art, Aarti used it for her soft organza ensembles.

To match the beauty of her inspiration, Aarti’s silhouettes were quaint. Garments were shaped like porcelain jars, rectangular wall hangings, cylindrical bottles or just lean and long shapes.

The designer showcased five key looks that were utterly feminine with stylish mass appeal. The sheath dress emblazoned with a parrot mosaic, skirt and Tee, cape tops with pencil skirts, cute ‘A’ line dresses and the glamorous glass organza maxi with gold nakshi work.

A combination of silk and glass organza was a constant for the collection as the sheer fragile fabric either covered the dresses or peeped cutely from under the hemlines. The printed pencil skirt looked sleek with a pure white blouse; while the long sleeve top and matching pants were a colourful addition. A long coat with an organza skirt/dress, bustier with pencil skirt, shorts matched with peplum jacket and a maxi with bird mosaic added to the look. Sack dresses had organza insets, and the empire line dress with a sheer fabric for the skirt was a feminine addition.

The solitary men’s wear entry further established the mood of the show with a sharply cut jacket and Bermudas with a floral print.

Each garment was an eye-catcher, which made Aartivijay Gupta’s “My World of Glass” a collection that every trend setter would want to be part of.

KUNAL ANIL TANNA’S MEN’S WEAR WAS INSPIRED BY JAPANESE CULTURE AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK SUMMER/RESORT 2015

Bringing a Japanese flavour to men’s and women’s wear Kunal Anil Tanna’s “Ume Matsuri” (plum blossoms) collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015 was like a breath of fresh summer breeze.

Based on traditional Japanese festivals when the plum and cherry blossoms come to life, Kunal used the techniques from that country for the tie and dye effects, which featured Hajime, Arasi Kumo etc. for airy summer voiles and textured cottons.

The silhouettes followed the Japanese inspirations for men’s wear as Kimono wrap tunics and pleated Hakkama pants revealed a comfy relaxed line. Detailing started with ornamentation by Kanzashi – the Japanese way of making fabric flowers for lapel pins, brooches, and boutonnieres etc.

Couching and mesh textures appeared regularly with wrap around belts replacing the Obe. Trousers were ankle length with double pleats on the hem, while a waist coat kurta with pleated ankle pants, collarless jacket, and fake waistcoat-shirt, double layered jacket, were interesting innovations.

Kimono overlaps gave tunics a dashing appearance; while wooden buttons were constant through the collection. The laser cut layered, quilting and pocket detailing were high points of the collection. Extended fold over lapels; graded Hajime touches, calf length gathered or box pleated Hakkama pants and cuff detailing completed the look.

For the women’s wear it was the bell sleeves top with sumo skirt, draped kurta in chiffon and silk, the high waist wide pants and blouse, maroon kimono top with pants, jumpsuit in net/silk and the pleated comfy wide pants teamed with a cropped bell sleeves top, followed the theme perfectly.

The colours matched the mood with plum, burgundy, and grape, teamed with shades of beige and soft blue.

For his show stopper, Kunal selected the very talented Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao who strutted down wearing a suit in varying shades and textures of maroon.

MANDIRA BEDI’S FANTASY SARI COLLECTION DAZZLED AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK SUMMER/RESORT 2015

Popular Bollywood actress and television star, Mandira Bedi added her distinct sartorial touches to India’s traditional 6-yard wonder at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015. 

Women who long for those statement-making saris need not look further, since Mandira’s impeccable tastes will turn them into style icons when they make a glamorous entry in her creations. Merging tradition with some innovative embellishments and classic additions, Mandira turned each sari into a conversation piece.

Zeroing on the Banaras sari – the India’s finest, woven in Varanasi, Mandira fused the ancient weaves with modern designs and showcased a line of New Age Banaras beauties.

Creating magic with the gold, silver, zari and brocade, which was intricately interwoven, Mandira added her opulent touches to the saris turning them into visions of beauty that will be desired by every Indian bride.

Opening the show with a white and pink border, silk sari with a giant flower appliqué on the pallav, Mandira offered more options with large florals on the pallav, as the mainstay of the section.

What followed were saris with luxurious gold, yellow, pink, magenta, orange assorted silk and brocade borders that appeared horizontally on the sari. Two toned versions with solid and brocade mix were another alternative. Multi borders appeared on net, while the tulle segment looked glamorous with varying appliqué options.

Stopping the show was the very elegant Shabana Azmi wearing a glittering red silk sari with a turquoise blouse. As she glided over the ramp it was husband Javed Akhtar’s voice that recited some couplets from a poem.

Philips presented a captivating collection by ace designer Wendell Rodricks at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015

Mumbai, March 22, 2015: Ace designer Wendell Rodricks did not fail to impress yet again with his collection ‘Popology’ at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/ Resort 2015 presented by Philips.

Highly roused by the ‘Pop Art’ trend, Wendell let loose a burst of colour on stage, mesmerising the awaiting audience. This collection was also a referral to the concept of pop-up stores that merchandise at unusual places, making it accessible to a wider group of ​consumers. His idea was to fit into the concept of youthful fashion that made it attainable in an instant.

The collection unfolded onto the ramp in a sensational array of hues like sunshine yellow, burnt orange, olive green, pale mint, dove grey, black, candy pink, pale lilac, Turkish blue, turquoise blue and signature white. Each garment sent out a precise Pop Art statement in terms of the cut, colour and freshness, which radiated from the ensembles.

Based on a wave of nostalgia from the 1960’s style and silhouettes, the line brought a very fashion-forward touch to the ramp.  The signature style carried out by Wendell Rodricks, who is known to excel in his craft and expertise, was clearly evident as the models cat-walked, leaving the audience in awe.

The models danced down the runway to upbeat music like “Uptown Funk’ in a fun and catchy way that was contagious. The clothing line commenced with a black Lycra bikini and hotpants under silk crépe rectangular beach shirt. Soon it was the 60’s silhouettes like the purple crépe silk dress featuring a yellow satin stripe, olive and dove grey ribbons that were worn over yellow linen Capris.

Some of the men’s wear that accentuated the collection was a candy pink linen jacket that edged in black silk and paired with grey linen beach pyjamas and another that was a pop art men’s grey linen shirt worn over turquoise linen beach pyjamas.

The show stopping garment was preceded with a hunky model wearing an orange linen men’s jacket with lavender silk detailing and crépe silk beach pyjamas.

Show stopper, Waluscha took the spectators by surprise when the lights dimmed to neon blue and she walked out wearing a jet black swimsuit over a wool crépe pleated peplum skirt. She was the perfect defining icon to the youthful collection.

‘Popology’ by Wendell Rodricks presented by Philips was a vibrant, fun, young line of clothing that had all the fashion divas swooning over it.

22 March, 2015, Mumbai: Around the poolside of the Palladium Hotel, fashionistas gathered to view the collection of India’s top swim and cruise wear designers. Creators of amazing fashion for ‘in’ and ‘out’ of the water, Shivan & Narresh internationally renowned names, took the audience on a fashionable holiday with their “Henri’s Garden” collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015.

Inspired by the work of French artist, Henri Rousseau and his visuals of visits to botanical gardens on canvas, the creations by the designing duo reflected the foliage patterns on their famous line.

The glamorous mix of cruise, resort and jewelled swimwear was highlighted by the brand’s seductive signature cut-outs that were stragically placed on the garments. The colours were eye-catching as arresting shades of soft saffron, ivory, yolk yellow and nude frolicked with electric cerulean and classic black.

Their statement prints, which were inspired by Rousseau’s canvases, appeared throughout the collection. Vintage fruits, vegetables and flat shapes of modern abstract versions of foliage tips added to the vibrancy of the ensembles.

Trikinis, bikinis, maillots, were great in-the-water styles that were ideal to create a bathing beauty look. Wetsuits, resort wear, kaftans, rompers, jumpsuits, were the perfect beach wear options.

For those who wanted something that would be more formal, there were innovative lehengas, saris, palazzos, bikini and resort saris with maillots and cruise gown.

The fabrics were neoprene, stretch, and soft materials that flowed in the wind as the models strolled around the pool. Hints of jewelled lines appeared around the waist of the bikinis along with the

Rousseau motifs that glittered on the skirts and dresses.

22 March 2015, Mumbai: Designer Shubhika Davda showcased a quirky yet classy collection titled ‘Twitterpated’ under her label ‘Papa Don’t Preach’ at Jabong Stage during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015.

Much like its inspiration the range comprised feminine, flirty, silhouettes like dresses, playsuits, rompers, skirts, shorts, waist coats and bodysuits in rich fabrics like pure crépe, organza, silk tissue, chiffon, mesh and satin.

The colour palette stuck to bold eye popping tones of mint, coral red, blush, gold, pastel green, pink and peach.

The designer also added accessories to her collection in the form of suitcase purses, stockings, socks, clutches, sling bags and stilettos.

Embellishments comprised laser cut acrylics, mirrors, metal casted cages, beads, threads, crystals and faux leather, which were used to couture each piece. A trademark of each design was a bold heart in the centre made of mirrors and crystals.

THE MADSAM TINZIN LABEL WAS AN ALLURING ETHEREAL COLLECTION AT JABONG STAGE DURING LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK SUMMER/RESORT 2015

Designers Madhuritu Dutta, Saumya Sharma, Tina Bhardwaj, Stanzin Dazes under their label ‘Madsam Tinzin’ inspired by “Aangan” showcased an alluring and ethereal collection at Jabong Stage during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015.

Dramatically romantic yet functional, the indo western range comprised easy-to-wear silhouettes, which made their way across the runway as tunics, dresses, jackets, tops, lehengas and skirts.

Fabrics like organza, tulle, silk; crépe and chiffon were used to accentuate flowing forms and graced the ramp in pleasant shades of blush, blue, sand, peach, white, tan and nude.

Floral embroideries, geometric tile prints, well placed pleats and light texturing added an edgy touch to each piece while jewel and bead detailing worked to add a glamorous flavour.

The designers also worked with a unique concept of asymmetry in design, as opposed to experimenting with cuts for a softer, natural and more feminine touch.

A particularly charming piece was a pair of dramatic palazzo pants in a deep rust brown tone flaunting pleats at the side, which was both versatile and vivacious.

After her debut in the Gen Next show during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013 with origami garments, Ragini Ahuja’s collection for the “Ikai” label during Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 was an interesting line called “Metal”.

Bringing in linear geometry, Ragini worked with appliquéd sheep nappa to recreate the beauty of flora and fauna along with brass strips. Yet Ragini’s fabric base was a little fragile, as sheer Chanderi and cottons were the choice for strong fashion statements. In addition, the exquisite marbled effect of metallic colours with oxblood and gold hints gave the garments a New Age touch.

The look was very relaxed with a marked laid back androgynous message, as boyfriend shirts, oversized bomber jackets, muscle tank dresses and athletic leather bustiers made an impressive appearance on the ramp.

The metallic alphabet appliqués appeared prominently for the garments, while the over shirts spelt comfort all the way. Interesting entries were the short leather top, long printed sheath topped with leather appliqué, a soft cover over a tube dress, striking black mini with loose pants, brown shirt and kimono top with tonal detailing.

The solitary men’s wear entry comprised soft blouson with a bold metallic appliqué and easy trousers.

Mention must be made of the striking thick wedges, which once again had metallic words fixed on the base.

Ragini Ahuja assured that each piece from her “Metal” collection was an exclusive one, thus giving the buyer an edge when it comes to wearing her creations in a crowded room.

RIXI BHATIA AND JAYESH SACHDEV OF QUIRK BOX BROUGHT THE NOSTALGIC FASHIONABLE FLAVOUR OF BOMBAY ON THE RAMP AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2014

For two seasons Rixi Bhatia and Jayesh Sachdev have been creating a fashionable stir with their label “Quirk Box”. For Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014, the designer duo’s collection called “Bombay Balloon” was a nostalgic inspiration, which recreated the vintage charm of Bollywood cinema and theatre.

Using Chanderi, crepe and georgette, the designers brought in colour blocking with delicate textured details. With such a vibrant theme it was but natural that the colour card had to be versatile; so tones of mustard, burnt orange, teal blue, emerald along with metallics like grey, gold and black came in for a fun filled line.

Pen and ink drawings featured the characteristic images of Bombay on all the garments. From the big air balloon to rickshaws, buses, zeppelins, bulbs, boats, the iconic Gateway of India - the print story was a great mix of memories past.

The silhouettes ranged from soft swinging blouses and skirts, to patch work dresses, maxis with pleat detailing, lapel waistcoat with a striped blouse, mini smock, cropped tops and double-breasted jacket.

Men’s wear was as colourful and followed the theme religiously with black waistcoat and a suit with all the ink and pen drawings - but this time in white on a black background.

The collection was further enhanced with the trendy jewellery from Tinka Bhatia and the bespoke limited edition line of hand crafted leather shoes by Cuero-HandCraftedLuxury exclusively designed for Quirk Box Gold using the original art prints.

TANYA SHARMA SHOWCASED A DESI TRIBUTE AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2014

Innovativeness took form in the shape of designer Tanya Sharma’s label “Gaga” as she overwhelmed the audience yet again at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014. Staying true to her natural heritage, Tanya drew inspiration from bountiful India by honouring the traditional techniques of prints and dyeing.

Various Indian classics of textile treatments like Bandhani, leheriya, tie-n-dye and bold block printing were used to give it the glamorous look that Indians are proud of.
These traditional historical techniques were contrasted with the modern choice of fabrics like jersey, silk and satin that was complementary with the added sparkle of beautiful zardosi embroidery.

The silhouettes were the perfect combination of sporty with a touch of glam for jumpers, maxi dresses, ankle length pants, shirts and short kurtas. Garments that were eye-catching were the Indo- western combination of a cropped top and a pant along with a half sari drape. A garment that stood out was the midi dress with lime green, two-layered sleeves and a bright blue bodice. The compilation embodied colours like dark blue, shades of green and a sunny yellow.

PRINT EXPERT AARTIVIJAY GUPTA RE-LIVED THE DEVELOPMENT OF FASHION AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2014

The young and bubbly designer Aartivijay Gupta showed how wise beyond her years she was when it came to fashion, as she presented her line at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014. Bold and historical were the focal points of the consequential collection. “Who Wore What When” was the title and inspiration behind the brilliant compilation.

Aarti retraced the major breakthroughs of interesting prints in the fashion industry that were revolutionary and extraordinary in their own time period. Phasing through years of anarchistic clothing inventions, she artistically bought to life the history of world costumes and fashion with her creations.

Quantum leaps like the corset-and-crinoline, hats from different centuries, hairstyles, accessories and voluminous ball gowns were turned into prints. From the ever famous Roman drapes and French medieval costumes to Italian fashion in the 17th century, history was hinted at as images on the garments.

Undoubtedly, the look that accompanied this portrayal was vintage with a touch of old world charm and grace. The silhouettes were inspired by the long-gone golden eras that would never be forgotten. Monochrome was the major colour story of the collection that made it all the more pleasing to the eye.

The major standouts were the old fashioned prints used cleverly on the garments such as a corset printed on the front instead of worn, along with net on the lower half of the dress. Another highlight was a turtle neck collar along with exaggerated padded shouldered short jacket for a shift midi.

There was a singular men’s wear garment that featured a monochromatic suit with ankle length pants that showed the unisexual aspects of the compilation.

Merging seamlessly, the meeting of two worlds of the ‘then’ and ‘now’, Aartivijay Gupta brought nothing less than excellence to the fashion platform. Somehow she gave vintage a whole new definition by transforming them into classy contemporary wearable fashion.

TERESA LAISOM AND UTSAV PRADHAN OF MUNKEE SEE MUNKEE DOO SHOWCASED AN UBER CHIC LINE AT JABONG STAGE DURING LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2014

Designer duo Teresa Laisom and Utsav Pradhan under their label ‘Munkee see Munkee doo’ showcased an uber chic collection titled ‘An Asian living in Europe’ at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014. 

The imaginative range inspired by Japanese modern art and culture incorporated contemporary European aesthetics onto silhouettes, which ranged from skirts, dresses, coats, jackets, tops to trousers.

Structured with a charming, natural flow, each piece was a beautiful fusion of oriental-meets-modern.

Layers dominated the outfits in unique blends such as wool-felt, viscose twill and poly-satin while embroideries with chords and shaded threads helped add a touch of bold sophistication.

Mesh work along with zippers, pleats and an innovative use of suspenders to connect pieces infused a sporty-fun vibe, balancing out the range’s diverse appeal. 

The colour palette comprised bold tones of white, red, grey, black, dusky cream and blue, while also offering paler, pastel tones for a more playful edge.

A particularly ravishing vintage inspired ensemble comprised a steel toned skirt accentuated by thread work and a garnet red coat-like shirt.
