Tuesday, 21 April 2015

Its been said that a couple whose been together for long or belongs together start looking similar. Do you agree? Luca and Susana are one such VINTAGE loving cool couple who we spotted; their similarity didn't end with the obvious identical punctured earlobes and nose rings, they are both in creative professional pursuits as well!
Luca and Susana
Luca is a musician and a professional model and Susana transforms beautiful faces into gorgeous with her art....she is a make-up artist. Susana wears a black tank paired with a leather short skirt also in leather......perfect to flaunt her exquisite butterflies and other tattooed body art. A leopard skin and leather sling bag and lovely clear glass vintage frames are accessories of her choice.

Luca pairs his rolled-up denim shorts in black denim with a Vintage Palm print short sleeves resort shirt worn buttoned-up. A baseball cap in green that says OBEY and vintage black shades are the accessories that complete his look. A full crop of well-groomed facial hair is just the way to be right now!
Luca and Susana
Love the nose ring touch... muy bien! just saw Lady Gaga sporting one too, brings out a certain Goth vibe. Did anyone tell either of you earlier that you look like each other? Keep doing the good work and keep looking good you two, Susana and Luca!

Street Style Diaries- Augustine Shimray

Augustine Shimray

Khayashii Augustine Shimray is a personality that is as vibrant and multifaceted as the multicultural land that he comes from, India. This artist/ musician/ model and designer hails from the breathtakingly beautiful and pristine hills of Nagaland. Coming from the head-hunting Tangkhul tribe of heavily tattooed warriors, Augustine is perhaps the the thread that binds tradition and modernity, the primitive and the contemporary.

Augustine gives us a look that spells Punk Rock with a predominantly black palette, the Mohawk, the punctured lobes, the tattoos, the leather straps and boots, but with a twist that's original and a genuine  representation of who he is rather than an imposition. He wears this asymmetric sleeveless knit top with an over sized pocket and a pair of black customized pants with heavy duty Doc Marten boots, all black.

Augustine is among the few lads of his age to sport the traditional facial tattoos along with the various others that he sports, we're sure each with a story behind it. The various charms and bracelets and armlets that he sports add to his fierce rawness. Augustine also deigns the dream-catchers, one of which he wears. The dream catchers are a native symbol of uniting tribes and are known to filter dreams and catch the nightmares.

Augustine has a musical side to him as well and is also a vocalist for #featherheads, feathers, leather, beads and horn almost are a part of his extended being.

We love the gun holster like contraption he creates with leather and studs for a small pouch that we're guessing is for his tools. Would like to know the story behind the octopus on his hand.....when we meet next!

Metallic Trail

Metallics have been making their presence felt on the runways off-late, from Lanvin to McQueen, from Burberry to DSquared have shown them, YES for MEN! From the famous Burberry trench coats in bright metallic hues to shirts, whole suits, we've seen it in all forms.

I know its a tricky territory, flashy and not palatable for the regular gent who wants to blend-in rather than stand-out, but when I spotted Bharat Mishra, I said why not? With the coolness of a Space-Cowboy, he shows us how to work the metallic.

Bharat wears his anatomically contoured and seamed pair of pants in metallic silver-grey with a textured shirt with horizontal stripes. I love his foot-wear choice, a classic pair of leather oxfords lace-up boots with almost metallic spray on as if settled-dust.....Moon-dust I'm guessing!

A straw colored linen Trilby hat, John Lennon black-out glares and the very in and contemporary full Mo-beard complete his simple, futuristic and emphatic Space Cowboy look. Be confident, very confident before you choose to go for this trend......and if you are convinced go right ahead and SHINE.

Five days Five Looks One Pal - Parfum Dellic Day 1

Monday, 30 June 2014

Introducing Parfum Dellic for my five days five looks one pal series. Parfum was fun shoot with; effervescent, energetic and enthusiastic.

Ready to walk in style for a meeting at work Parfum pairs his black check tee with green cast denims; he brings in sophistication and formal tone with a textured custom jacket. A pair of brogues to match the denims; leather bag and tousled hair to finish his Savvy sartorial work wear.

Work wear recently has started being more about being a personal style statement rather than a crisp suit and tie affair and we are digging Parfum's ultimate style statement.

Parfum Dellic is fashion designer by profession; the name is inspired by his love for perfumes.

Style Statement

The best advertisement for your wares/craft specially if it is wearable, is you! Anup dabbles in many such crafty pursuits and when I met him he was like a walking billboard of his exquisite hand painted/crafted accessories using coins among other things.

Coins have always had the power to draw collectors over centuries and are great examples of beautifully detailed and rendered artworks that are the sign of the times preserved for posterity. Coin jewelry is a fun alternative to the conventional precious (or not) metal jewelry that we are all used to. Don't we all have a lucky coin/lucky penny that we do not wanna let go or an exotic souvenir or a gifted coin from faraway land that we want to keep forever? I have an old neck piece in silver with old guineas and i will always love it, do share your coin jewelry with us and tell us how you feel about them....

Anup uses these coins to fashion pins, brooches, armlets, pendants and such innovative pieces to help you carry your memories with you, on you. He also does these interesting hand painted ties. What I saw reminded me of the Egyptian art influences in terms of the color usage and the graphics, specially the Eye of Ra. I do love the vintage timepiece on a washed denim band with hand painted graphics on it.

Don't forget to notice the 10 naye paise from 1958.......nostalgia and the stories from my granny of its worth and how it could buy the world then....priceless!
